About me

“May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home.

“Life is an adventure.” Whoever said this first was right on track. In writing this blog I am sharing my life’s travels and adventures, specifically, the places I have visited, the people I have met, and my impressions of each trip. I hope that in sharing these with you, you will in turn share with me your life’s journeys.
My life story includes more than 20 years of working with an agricultural R&D agency. Since I graduated with a Development Communication degree in the early ‘80s, being accepted as writer and editor was a fitting start to a career in the communication field. Having experienced all the facets of communication work, from planning, producing, to evaluating communication materials, I was lucky enough to be sent to finish my graduate studies at the University of the Philippines Los Baños on scholarships, specifically, for my Masteral and Doctoral degrees.  These degrees allowed me the privilege and responsibility of being assigned to lead and manage the different communication projects and programs of my agency and other international agencies, as well.
But a different calling beckoned. My husband was on assignment to a forestry job in Papua New Guinea. Since my daughters had both graduated from University, it was high time that I joined my husband in his own exploits. So, I retired from government work and tried the domesticated life in PNG. However, this hiatus was short-lived. My husband plowed on with his assignments to other more wilderness-endowed areas, thus, less-friendly to wives like me, so I stayed put and came back to my home country, the Philippines.
Having nothing to stimulate me cognitively, I applied and got accepted as Assistant Professor to UPLB. I taught subjects like English grammar, writing college compositions and writing science reports. This was a short stint, though, that lasted only three years. I was not young anymore to start again, but not old enough to retire.

Once again, I needed something to occupy my time, something productive, and something that will give meaning to my existence. The computer beckons, the writer in me needs to express my thoughts into words. This is what I was trained for, this is what I have been doing all my life, so this is what I will be doing: putting into words my life’s adventures. Hence the birth of  adventurous-Pinay, the blog. Hopefully, these pages will inspire and motivate others to experience life as I had. It will be a pleasure to know more what you, my readers, think about my life and yours. Together we may transform lives as we encounter our life together in this blog. Happy reading my friends!
