Why Dallas Arboretum is a Beautiful Adventure

Are you a flower spirit who loves everything about flowers and gardens? Then Dallas Arboretum is the right place for you.

Spring was coming and it was getting warm in Texas. So, we decided to enjoy the first traces of spring weather and went to Dallas Arboretum. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a 66-acre botanical garden located at 8525 Garland Road in East Dallas, Dallas, Texas, on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake (Wikipedia). The Arboretum has been listed among the top arboretums in the world and the number of honors is so extensive it is listed on their website. The Dallas Arboretum is proud to offer the public an array of popular annual events, educational programs for children and adults, and an emphasis on family-oriented activities (http://www.dallasarboretum.org/visit/our-story/about-us).

Dallas Arboretum has 19 named gardens. Since the place is so huge, we were not able to cover everything. But the following were the ones that caught our attention: Designed by Naud Burnett II, the 6.5-acre Margaret Elisabeth Jonsson Color Garden (above) features beds of seasonal flowers and plants. The Color Garden is home to more than 2,000 varieties of azaleas, along with daffodils, and tulips. Tulips are my favorite flowers and I was so delighted to see all possible colors in one place.

We were lucky to have a glimpse of the cherry blossoms (above); although, some were not in full bloom yet.

Notable were the different plants that were shaped like vehicles, shown above.

A waterfall is always welcome in this 80°F weather, above. In the pool were different varieties of koi fish.

As a family recreation facility, walkways are built to accommodate strollers. However, Tierra preferred being carried by her dad, Tyler (above).

Overlooking White Rock Lake was this playground where families were allowed to have picnics on certain days.

The infinity pool was a sight to behold, that it was so tempting to just dive in. Other beautifully unique features were as follows:

It was a warm day, so it was time to cool down with a popsicle. Tierra seemed to enjoy the cold delight (above), specially that she was teething at that time.

It was getting late for lunch and the places around the arboretum were packed. Luckily, we found Da Lat, a Vietnamese restaurant a few miles away.

As usual, I was in search of the best ramen so I ordered one (above). Tyler and Trina had these for lunch while Tierra entertained us with her antics (below).

We really enjoyed this outing being surrounded by different spring flowers that showed off their delicate charm. If not for the warm weather, we would have enjoyed it more. Besides, next time we will bring our own packed lunch so we could stay longer. The arboretum is open year-round from 9:00 am to 5:00pm.
